How much does it cost to lay fiber optic cables in a trench

Typical fiber lay projects range from about $20,000 up to $180,000. The total depends on route length, underground vs aerial work, fiber grade, and local permitting. Total Project Costs: For commercial installations, expect costs ranging from $5,000 to $20,000 per mile for underground projects and from $40,000 to $60,000 per. The total project cost typically ranges from a low near $2,000 to a high well beyond $15,000, depending on run length, environment, and required trenching or aerial work. The data for the Fiber Deployment Cost report was gathered. Armored fiber optic cables designed for direct burial cost $6-14 per linear foot. These cables include gel-filled cores and water-blocking protection. Conduit systems add $2-4 per foot but allow future cable additions.
